This week’s
Weekly Inspection
looks at the value of an Agile Coach.
A referee has expert command of the rules of the game.
A coach understands how and when to apply those rules to win the game.
A referee penalizes players for violating the rules of the game.
A coach recognizes when violating the rules is more valuable than following the rules.
Referees are objective adjudicators. The win or loss is irrelevant.
Coaches have a stake in the game. Team success is paramount.
The Agile community is rich with members who call themselves coaches.
I fear too many of them are playing the role of referee.
